Mary Heiny Presents:
Musubi Weekend Seminars

The Private Lesson
Holistic coaching towards mind/body awareness

In 1968, when I was starting my Aikido training at Hombu Dojo, I was witness to Osensei’s encouragement of women training.  for example, I saw him  as he came into the dojo one day and lectured everyone on the ability and importance of women doing Aikido.  As I travel around teaching Aikido I have been very happy to have encountered many fine senior women teachers.  I have become convinced that a seminar in which several of these teachers join me to offer their insights into Aikido to everyone, men and women would be challenging and inspiring.

I chose the name Musubi Weekend for this event.  Musubi is the heart of Aikido.  In Japanese, musubi means to join, connect, unify, tie together.  We may have heard the word  “musubi” as we train but what is its practical application on the mat and in our lives.  How do we accomplish musubi within our own selves and out in the world? This seminar will be a place to explore this technically and spiritually.  I am sure this will inspire and empower your Aikido.

Please join me and a fine group of female aikido instructors for a very special weekend of training.

The first Musubi Weekend was held April 14-18, 2010 at Aikido of Berkeley. The seminar was a big success and Mary Heiny Sensei is planning the next one. Please check back for more information.
